Welcome to the Association for the German Script and Language!

The aim of our Association is the conservation and advancement of the German typeface and script type as well as the preservation of the German language. This site will keep you updated of our work and give you regular overviews of our publications.


The Association for German Script and Language has turned 50!

The Association for the German Script and Language (BfdS) was originally founded in 1918 under the name 'Bund für deutsche Schrift' (Association for the German Script) and forced to dissolve in 1941. Since its reconstitution in 1951 it has continued its work for more than 50 years. Since 1999, the BfdS has been working together with other language associations of the German-speaking world as part of the German Language Network - People for the Conservation of the Linguistic Diversity in Europe ('Netzwerk Deutsche Sprache - Bürger für die Erhaltung der sprachlichen Vielfalt Europas').
